It was as easy as 1, 2, 3.
Sprinting sensation Usain Bolt clocked a blistering 19.32 seconds on his way to leading Jamaica to a clean sweep of medals in the 200 metres at the London Olympics.
It was the first time in Olympic history that someone had won the 100- and 200-metre sprints at successive Games. Bolt’s training partner Yohan Blake was second in 19.44 seconds while little known compatriot Warren Weir grabbed bronze in 19.84.
Bolt’s time was just two hundredths of a second outside of the Olympic record of 19.30, which he set at the 2008 Olympics and assured him his second gold medal of the games.
“I knew it wasn’t going to be a world record when I came around the corner, I could feel it,” Bolt said.
