Churches share survival tips

CONCERNED CHRISTIANS came out in their numbers on Monday night to have their say on measures the church and individuals could take to weather the current economic storm.
During the Barbados Evangelical Association’s (BEA) annual general meeting at Faith Wesleyan Holiness Church in Jackman’s, St Michael, they gave ideas and personal testimonies of how they were getting by which others could adopt.
One of the more interesting ideas came from Sabir Nakhuda, who spoke of the Islamic zakat fund.
“We in the Muslim community give two-and-a-half per cent of our net worth to the poor and needy within our own community. So in Barbados we have set up a committee to handle that and we have another charity set up for non-Muslims as well.
