I CONFESS: Glad to be free of that wicked abuser

IT’S?NOT easy being involved with a man who abuses you. You feel as if you’re always walking a tightrope as you never know what would trigger a violent explosion.
Some people say if it were them in such situations, they would do this and do that. But no one understands how frightening these abusive relationships can be unless they are in one.
But I do. As the saying goes, “been there, done that”. This man was one wicked, ignorant person who threatened to kill me, my sister, and anyone he thought I cared about.
He would say that he knew my family and friends would come running to represent me and if anyone ever did, he would deal with them too.
I was very scared of him, so frightened that I said nothing to my family, until my mother died. I went to her funeral and that’s when I decided that I was not going to return to our house. I had had enough of his beating me up and pushing me around. I told myself “never again”.
Of course, it wasn’t easy pulling away from him. First, he would not allow me to get my clothes. I had to call the police to go with me to ensure I got them.
After that, he would come around my family’s house threatening us if I did not come back to him. Things got so bad that I had to take out a protection order against him.
That kept him at bay for a while, but every now and then he would park his car outside our house and just sit in it. As the windows were down, you could see he was in it, but he never used to say anything. He just sat there. It was unnerving.
Again, we called the police, but each time he saw them approaching he would drive off.
After nearly about five weeks of this harrassment, he stopped coming around. I later found out he was involved with someone else.
Thank God, I am rid of him. If I were not a strong individual, I would have lost my mind.
However, I did not. Good riddance to rubbish.
I am sure that whomever he is currently with now must be seeing hell. I pity her.
I would tell any woman that the best thing to do if you get involved with a man who turns out to be an abuser is to run like hell from the very first sign. Believe me, you cannot change him. Such people are sick, and they are cowards who will continue to abuse you no matter how you try to please them.
