Handheld radios for DEO

THE ST JOHN DISTRICT EMERGENCY ORGANISATION (DEO) received some much needed communication equipment on Thursday from the St John Constituency Council in the form of six hand-held radios.
The presentation took place at the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) office at Warrens, St Michael.
St John Constituency Council chairperson Richard Harris presented the equipment to John Haynes, head of the St John DEO.
Also present were Judy Thomas, Tamara Lovell and Danielle Skeete.
Haynes said “this initative came about as a result of the post mortem of the Carib Wave exercise last year. We realised that one of the necessities was to have communication radios as part of the process going forward and these radios would go to the Martin’s Bay group . . . so that they would be more equipped to respond in the event of an emergency”.
