ALMOND RESORT is up and running.
Following last weekend’s dry run to test the systems, the St Peter facility officially reopened to paying customers yesterday.
General manager Craig Smith said things were “hectic” since they had just about three days to get some things tweaked.
Total guests for yesterday were 25 adults and one child. Smith said a steady stream of guests will be coming through Monday since about 100 were registered.
“We’re going to be about 40 per cent [between] Sunday and Monday,” Smith said.
Among the guests who checked in were Kevin Coleman and Sarah Warner of London, who were “devastated” when they heard the hotel they had such fond memories of was closed. They were excited to be back after three years and were looking forward to their six-night stay.
Also checking in yesterday for a first-time visit were friends Lennox Fenty and Todd Darras, who was celebrating his birthday. (YB)
