THE Barbados Water Authority (BWA) will start installing thousands of smart meters at homes across Barbados from next month.
Chairman Dr Atlee Brathwaite told the DAILY?NATION that 98 000 high technology meters, “which could read every drop of water”, would replace the outdated devices now in use.
The Smart Meter Project was announced last year by Dr David Estwick, the minister responsible for water management, after he signed a contract with the Canadian Commercial Corporation, which would be overseeing the installation programme.
Brathwaite said the meters were already being installed at commercial businesses.
