Which bread are you?
This pointed and unusual question was put last week to the congregation of Messengers For Christ Ministry, Pasture Road, Haggatt Hall, St Michael, by guest speaker Dr Dudley Trotman, as he spoke during a special week of services.
Explaining to his audience that “the Bread of Life is the spirit of God which directs”, Trotman said that the children of God should always reproduce the kind of bread which glorifies the Father, and they must be not just Christians, but practicing Christians.
As he preached, he asked his listeners: “When you are in your workplace, what bread do you deliver?”
“When you are among friends, what bread do you deliver?”
“In your church, what bread do you deliver?”
Trotman added: “Unless we have come to grips with the fact that the only saving power is the bread of life we are lost. Jesus Christ sacrificed His life so we would be saved. The Christian Church must recognise what Jesus the bread of life means. Ask yourself if the bread of life has changed you?”
He said that many Christians were walking around with bad attitudes which are “stopping people from coming inside the church”.
“Which bread are you?” he reiterated throughout the service.
“Have you been touched by the bread of Jesus Christ? Are you giving others the bread of life so they can be saved? Ask yourself what are you doing for Him who is the bread of life?”
He said there was too much jealousy and fighting in the church, even between husbands and wives, wives and husbands and girlfriends and boyfriends.
Trotman advised: “The path we are supposed to take as practising Christians is to love one another. We must also show humility and sincerity.”
He called on believers to thank God even for those things they do not currently possess, and warned them not give in to the temptation of complaining about the current recession.
“Stop being a Christian when your name was changed and start being a practising Christian. Stand up for righteousness and be one who can proudly say ‘I know that my Redeemer lives’.”
He told those gathered in the small, wooden building next to the side of the road, that “if God be God serve Him,” and if God be for you, who can be against you?
