High Commissioner to Britain, Reverend Guy Hewitt has urged the Home Office to give priority to the visa issue that has left former international cricketer Collis King separated from his British wife, Beverly, and unable to return to England.
Hewitt told the Weekend Nation he has raised the matter directly with the Home Secretary Sajid Javid and with the chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Colin Graves.
“We really are doing all that we can to get this matter addressed. It is for me a priority because in my estimation, Collis King has made a considerable contribution to Barbados and the West Indies’ cricket but also to the West Indian community in the United Kingdom.
“I have asked the Home Office to use their compassion and discretion to give his matter their priority so that it can be resolved and he can be reunited with his wife and community in Yorkshire as quickly as possible,” said Hewitt, speaking by telephone link-up from London yesterday afternoon. (MK)
