TORONTO – Three barbadian football officials took centre stage when the CONCACAF Champions League continued at the BMO Field in Toronto on Tuesday night.
Referee Trevor “Muslim” Taylor and assistant referees, Adrian Goddard and Mark “Bob” Moses officiated in a first round, Group A match between Real Salt Lake of the United States and Toronto FC which was aired live on Fox Soccer Channel.
Javier Morales’ second-half goal helped Real Salt Lake (RSL) salvage a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC, enough for the defending MLS champions (RSL) to be the first squad to advance to the quarter-finals.
Morales’ equaliser helped RSL counter Jacob Peterson’s first goal in a Reds uniform and extend Toronto’s winless streak at home in all competitions to six games.
The three Bajan officials will be kept busy next month as they are due to travel to Guyana to officiate in the CONCACAF Caribbean Men’s Under-20 first round group between Jamaica, Grenada, the United States Virgin Islands and the host country from October 6 to 10.
Taylor, Moses and Goddard will then leave for neighbouring Suriname to do duties in Group C of the Digicel Caribbean Cup, featuring the hosts, Guyana, Netherlands Antilles and St Lucia from October 13 to 17. (EZS)
