Domestic abuse issues are being reported daily to police in Barbados. And the situation is of grave concern to Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith.

On Monday the top cop reported that between January and July this year, the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) has had to respond to disputes every day.

“As it relates to assaults and wounding, we noticed a trend where domestic violence is responsible almost on a daily basis for cases,” Griffith said during a Press conference.

“We noticed that our young men who find themselves in broken relationships are treating their women as chattel and are engaging themselves in acts that are really not beholding of decency,” he added.

The commissioner said he believed the police were doing all they could to reduce these incidents. (AD)
