THERE HAS BEEN MUCH TALK about business places and a Building Code since the Tudor Street fire over a month ago. But the Building Code wouldn’t apply to those City buildings 30 or more years old.

Really, safety and security are what are now more relevant.

The Fire Department should inspect these stores routinely, making it mandatory for them to have fire extinguishers in place and store staff acquainted with their use.

While at catering school I had to spend a day at a fire station to learn how to deal with the various fires I might encounter – which solutions to employ. City store workers should be exposed to the same.
