COMMUTERS ARE CRYING out over dirty and explicit lyrics on route taxis and minibuses, while officials are calling on people to report offenders to the police.
In response to complaints from several users of public transport yesterday, officials of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) reminded ZR and minibus drivers that they were breaking the law by playing pre-recorded music.
The Association of Public Transport Operators (APTO) condemned the behaviour and urged commuters to report the vehicles forthwith.
APTO chairman David Scantlebury said: “If people are hearing these [lewd CDs], they should report the vehicles’ numbers to the police. It’s the first time I’m hearing about it, but the route taxis and minibus operators have an association which should be given teeth to deal with its members.” (RJ)
