THE DIRECTOR OF THE National Task Force on Crime Prevention is warning parents to be careful who they allow into their homes in light of sex abuse claims from children.
Cheryl Willoughby said she was concerned about the high attrition rate of sexual assault cases involving young girls, especially between 10 and 14 years.
“Parents are reporting that their children are being sexually victimised, but somewhere along that process the cases are being quashed, or the case is [either] being dismissed or the perpetrator is not being prosecuted as he or she should,” Willoughby said as she addressed the St Bernard’s Primary School graduation yesterday.
It was suggested by some of those gathered at Courts of Praise Church, in Lammings, St Joseph, that money was the cause, but the NTFCP director said this reason was merely anecdotal.
