Hilary Beckles’ No Country for a White Hero opened at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination on Thursday evening.
The play highlights the life and political work of Athol Edwin Seymour TT Lewis, a white, lower middle class Barbadian politician. The role was played by veteran actor Patrick Foster, supported by a cast of well-established and emerging actors. They were under the direction of Harclyde Walcott.
Here, his final moments are depicted on a hospital bed in St Lucia, surrounded by wife Marge (Kaye Foster, standing), “Ma” (Sonia Williams) and mistress Thelma Ward (Carolyn Brathwaite). The four-night run ends on Sunday evening. (LW)
