Tomorrow, June 28 there will be a special benefit concert titled Rebound at The People’s Cathedral in aid of Christopher Rouse.
Rouse was playing at the beach on March 22, 2014 when he fell on his head, fracturing three bones in his neck and sustained a spinal chord injury which left him paralysed from his shoulders down.
He is currently at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Florida where he is undergoing intensive rehabilitation. He has regained some feeling and movement in his hands and chest but none so far from his waist down.
Rouse, a former student of Christ Church Foundation School, was into his first year at Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic pursuing a diploma in mechanical engineering. He was also an active member of the church’s youth choir and dance ministry.
There will be no admission charge to the concert but patrons will be asked to give a generous donation towards his rehabilitation.
Among the best known performers at the concert will be De Warrior, James Leacock and Promise, Neisha Woods as well as in-house artistes including Anointed Accapella Group and the Youth Synergy Worship Warfare Dancers with whom Rouse used to dance. Refreshments will also be on sale. During the concert there will also be a conversation with Rouse via Skype.
“Everyone is invited to come out and support this cause as Rouse, his family and friends have strong faith in the Lord that he will rebound, walk and dance again for The Lord as he did before he became paralyzed,” said his father Curtis Rouse.
Meanwhile, people wishing to assist can make a to deposit Scotiabank Account # 1009101. (PR/RRM)
