THE BARBADOS Lawn Tennis Association needs to improve the way it’s managing tennis in this country.
It continues to select persons to trials for various international tournaments, such as the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup, in the absence of a national selection guideline policy in place.
There is also a total disregard for junior players, who are on tennis scholarships at various universities in the United States.
These players are never invited to trials unless they happen to be on the island.
Another concern is the national coach, who coaches many junior players and is also on the selection panel. This is a clear conflict of interest.
