No to more guns!

WHEN I first emigrated to Berlin, my neighbour used to leave her door open, so that when her two little daughters were finished playing outside they could come in without disturbing her.

I once asked her if she wasn’t afraid a stranger would walk in and rob her. She said: “No, because everybody in Germany has enough and do not have to steal.”

Last week, I picked up my Daily Nation to see the screaming headline Clinton To Help Region Beef Up Security.

I truly believe what we need here in Barbados and throughout the Caribbean are more tractors, ploughs, corn, seeds, sweet potatoes; not more guns and bullets.
