Prime Minister Mia Mottley gave the citizens of Barbados a number of assurances during a live interview with journalist David Ellis tonight.

She addressed the state of the economy by saying: “Barbados must never reach this point again, where we are is unfortunate. The fact that we have had to suspend debt payments, we have been operating on fumes.”

Mottley also addressed the recent surge in gun violence saying: “I think that the Ministry of Youth Affairs has to put in place substantive programmes that take young people between 14-22 and engage them in structured activity.”

She said that two terms as Prime Minister is more than enough to deal with the issues or contribute to solutions. She has also publicly supported term limits despite many of her colleagues being against it.

She admitted that since being elected it has been challenging but reassured Barbadians that they are priority. “Just look at the pensioners, they said that an increase could not be done but like I said during the elections ‘Give me the vote and watch muh’. (NATIONNEWS)
