SOME PARENTS whose children attend a primary school are upset that management at the school have decided to tutor the children using the American system instead of the British system.
Parents say the teachers have even started a reading programme which focuses on the American way and have given the children the programme to study.
One mother said when she asked the principal if the Ministry of Education was aware that the school was not following the syllabus, the principal told her that the ministry cannot tell her what to do.
Parents want to know why the principal, who studied at a United States university, is so anxious to get rid of the Queen’s English and impose North American teaching on her charges.
They are planning to lodge an official complaint with the ministry about this matter.
Fuss over pair of shoes
PEOPLE ARE STILL TALKING about the owner of a store who refused to refund a customer for a pair of shoes which fell apart after the woman wore them for only one day.
When the poor woman took the shoes back to the store, one minute she was told that she would get her money back, then the next she was told that she would not get a cent.
But to make matters worse the shoes were thrown into a garbage can right in front of the customer.
Now after several months the customer has finally been awarded a refund following the intervention of a third party.
