Barbadians must see the importance of exploring and utilizing local markets to the fullest, says Minister of Industry, Small Business and Rural Development Denis Kellman.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Entrepreneurs’ Fair And Vendors’ Market organized by the St Michael North-East Constituency Council at Jackson House, Jackson, St Michael, yesterday.
“We Barbadians tend to undervalue our products. We neglect to highlight their quality and thus the marketing effort achieves less than is desired.
“If we can take one local product and increase its consumption on the local market, we would make an impact on the country’s foreign currency spending. Simply put, the more local products we consume, the more foreign exchange we can save,” Kellman said.
