Venue change angers artistes

Even though a winner was announced last night, the MQI/Banks/Lime Pic-O-De-Crop Finals almost became a loser.
When disgruntled Pic-O-De-Crop finalists met with National Cultural Foundation (NCF) personnel at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex yesterday morning, some of them used the term “disrespect” in reference to NCF’s handling of the matter of changing the venue and demanded an official apology from the agency.
While it was a closed door meeting, angry voices could be heard coming from the anteroom and when the calypsonians emerged, many hurriedly left the venue. Popsicle said he did not have much to say; RPB said he was heading to a meeting with his team; Ian Webster, with arms around Chrystal, said:
“The show is on.”
Adonijah, who spoke to the media freely afterwards, said he was “happy for the people that the show was going on”.
