Barbados is starting to feel the effects of Tropical Storm Ernesto.
In the latest advisory tonight from the Barbados Meteorological Services, it stated that a Tropical Storm warning remains in effect for Barbados.
Met officials predict that storm conditions will start to affect Barbados within another six to 12 hours.
“At 8 p.m. the center of Tropical Storm Ernesto was located by satellite and Barbados radar imagery to be near latitude 13.3 north, longitude 57.4 west, or about 150 miles to the east of Barbados,” stated the advisory.
Ernesto is moving toward the west at 22 miles per hour, and this is expected to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours.
Maximum sustained winds are near 50 miles per hour, with greater higher gusts expected.
Met officials also say that on this present track, the center of Ernesto is expected to pass near Barbados during the early hours of tomorrow morning, moving across the northern Windwards later in the morning.
