OUTSIDE THE PULPIT: Windies triumph one to treasure

But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him any more. – Matthew 22: 34, 35 and 46.
Last Sunday will be cherished for a very long time by the people of the Caribbean – at home and abroad. It was the day on which the West Indies cricket team defeated Sri Lanka in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup.
I am very happy for captain Darren Sammy, and I hope that it will close the mouths of his many critics.
Congratulations also to coach Ottis Gibson for a fantastic job.
Sunday’s win has shown that West Indies has a fighting spirit once more, something the people of the Caribbean had grown accustomed to in the past.
What we all saw on Sunday was a team playing together. Let’s hope the boys keep it up.
And, Sammy, keep on doing what you are doing. We are behind you.
