Govt, FTC to check prices

The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) is working with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs to monitor prices following the repeal of the National Social Responsibility Levy.

During an outreach programme in The City, on Friday, FTC’s director of consumer protection, Dava Leslie-Ward, said that as part of the organisation’s mandate, it would be working with the consumer affairs department to ensure there were no infringements of consumers’ rights.

“We are working very close with that department, which is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of the removal of the NSRL, and if there are any issues arising out of the removal that would affect consumers they would refer it to us and we would carry out investigations,” said Leslie-Ward.
