Warning to illegal dumpers

Minister of Health Donville Inniss has warned that he will be advising Government to prosecute people who continue to engage in illegal dumping and burning.
Inniss said that despite his ministry’s continued efforts in educating the public about the dangers of both illegal activities, people were still engaging in these worrisome actions.
“This is a growing problem for the ministry and we recently held meetings with the concerned citizens group who are working as a non-govermental organization to sensitize Barbadians as to the harmful effects.
“I have asked the health officers to step up their surveillance . . . and not just step up surveillance, but also to start lodging cases against these culprits in the courts of Barbados,” Inniss said at a Press briefing on the status of leptospirosis at the Ministry of Health’s Frank Walcott Building on Wednesday.
