Shopkeeper stabbed to death

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Jan 6, CMC – Police say a 57-year-old man was assisting their investigations into the murder of a 54-year-old shopkeeper, who was stabbed to death on Monday, hours after being accused of sending her monkey to steal money.

Police said that the neighbour of Shellon Burnette of east Coast Demerara, is assisting in the investigations after the woman was stabbed multiple times about her body.

On Saturday, lawmen said, the suspect went to the shop accusing Burnette of sending her monkey to steal his money from his house and they had an exchange of words during which the suspect threatened to kill her. (CMC)
