Buoyed by their resounding seven-wicket win over five-time defending champions, Guyana Jaguars, Barbados Pride will be seeking another victory over fifth place Jamaica Scorpions in the third round match starting at Sabina Park today in the Regional Four-Day Cricket Championship.

Barbados Pride, who are third in the standings on 25.6 points, behind Trinidad and Tobago (29.6) and the Windward Islands Volcanoes (29.4) have named an unchanged 13-man squad to travel to Jamaica.

Despite their lowly position on 14.8 points, Jamaica Scorpions could feel heartened by two hard-fought draws after being forced to follow-on in both of their matches.

Since the start of the Professional Cricket League in the 2014-15 first-class season, the Pride have won six without losing any of their 10 encounters with the Scorpions.

The Scorpions will be bolstered by the return of all-rounder Rovman Powell from injury and Brandon King from duties with West Indies in the recent series against Ireland at the expense of veteran Guyanese left-hander Assad Fudadin and Aldaine.

Jamaican Jermaine Blackwood and Barbadian Shamarh Brooks are on the verge of reaching 3 000 runs in first-class cricket.

Blackwood needs 63 more while Brooks is 94 runs away from the landmark.

West indies’ left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican is also in sight of a milestone as he requires six more scalps for 200 first-class wickets. (EZS)
