Purity hiking its bread prices only

There will be an increase in prices of some of Purity Bakeries’ bread.

However, general manager Ralph Holder said there would be a drop in price for other products when the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL) is removed.

Purity, in a release yesterday, said that as a result of the recent Mini-Budget, the removal of the NSRL and the imposition of fuel, and garbage and sewage taxes would have an impact on the products.

Holder said that previously NSRL was only on products which contained added sugar: thus the cake and pastries line attracted the tax, while the line of breads did not.

“We had to trade off the increased taxes, with the removal of the NSRL” said Holder.

He said Wonder and Purity branded sandwich loaves, salt bread and sandwich making subs would be increased by one per cent only.

The NSRL will be removed from tomorrow. (PR/JS)
