Dirty Habit

Human faeces in garbage is becoming a problem for the Sanitation Services Authority (SSA). And workers of the authority want people to stop this nasty habit as it poses a health threat.

The sad thing is that increasing incidents of these poor sanitation practices are being received on almost a weekly basis, said the SSA’s public relations officer Carl Padmore yesterday.

“There are a number of districts across Barbados that are affected and even our street sweepers are affected. We are still butting up on needles [syringes], still butting across faeces and dead animals in the garbage as well,” said Padmore.

He also revealed that in addition to recent complaints in Licorish Village, My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, the authority has also experienced this problem in Richmond Gap, near President Kennedy Drive. (RA)
