The Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) says it is working with its members to provide jobs for the 149 people displaced by the abrupt closure of Chaps Restaurants Ltd.’s three entities Cin Cin By The Sea, Primo Bar & Bistro and Hugo’s Barbados on Monday.
Chief executive officer, Senator Rudy Grant, said the BHTA had reached out to its more than 120 restaurants and hotels.
“The BHTA is very concerned about the welfare of those persons who are now out of work and, as a result, will not be able to provide for their families and take care of their financial responsibilities.
“We have been in discussion with Chaps chief executive officer Joanne Pooler to coordinate job opportunities at all staff levels. Email information has been communicated to our members and the response so far has been extremely encouraging,” Grant added. (PR)
