Two 19-year-old males were remanded to HMP Dodds today when they appeared in court to face charges surrounding a crime that left a Canadian visitor paralysed.

Alexander Patrick Alleyne of No. 1 Ealing Grove, Christ Church, and Travis Orin Campbell of no fixed place of abode were not required to plead to the offences when they appeared in the Oistins Magistrates Court before Magistrate Elwood Watts.

They were remanded until April 6, 2020.

Alleyne and Campbell are charged with unlawfully wounding Kenneth Elliott with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him or to do some serious bodily harm; that they entered the dwelling house of Robert Elliott as a trespasser with intent to steal and at the time of its commission had with them a firearm and a weapon of offense, a cutlass and that they used a firearm without a valid license to do so.

Police investigations by members of the Major Crime Unit led to the two being charged after allegedly invading the house where Elliott was staying in Ealing Park on February 22. The Canadian was shot and paralysed from the clavicle down. He was flown to Florida for treatment.

The incident made headlines in Canada. (PR/SAT)
