Shopping by surname

Prime Minister Mia Mottley tonight announced several measures designed to allow Barbadians to shop for essentials, even while extending the 24-hour curfew until midnight May 3, 2020.

These include special shopping days and hours according to surname, and provisions for senior citizens, the disabled, essential workers and healthcare workers at supermarkets, fish markets, hardware stores and banks.

The measures will go into effect on Wednesday.

Surname A, B:

Supermarket/Fish market/Hardware store: Mondays 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Fridays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Bank: Mondays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Surname C, D, E, F:

Supermarket/Fish market/Hardware store: Wednesdays 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Saturdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Bank: Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Surname G, H, I, J, K:

Supermarket/Fish market/Hardware store: Thursdays 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Mondays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Bank: Thursdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Surname L, M, N, O, P, Q, R:

Supermarket/Fish market/Hardware store: Fridays 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Tuesdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Bank: Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Surname S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z:

Supermarket/Fish market/Hardware store: Saturdays 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Wednesdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Bank: Wednesdays 1 p.m. to 1 4.m.

Senior Citizens and the Disabled

Supermarket/Fish market/Hardware store: Tuesdays 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Sundays 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Bank: Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Healthcare and Essential Workers

Supermarket/Fish market/Hardware store: Thursdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bank: Thursdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
