PM includes Sinckler

Former Democratic Labour Party finance minister Chris Sinckler is returning to public life at the invitation of Prime Minister Mia Mottley.

Mottley last night announced that the controversial former Minister of Finance would be part of a special advisory group for current and post COVID-19 Barbados.

“I am happy to report it will be a broad-based council reflective of the Social Partnership but also including former Ministers of Finance because this island is simply too small and we need all hands on deck. Regrettably, former Prime Minister [Sir Lloyd Erskine] Sandiford is not in a position to serve with us but I’ve gotten the agreement of former Prime Minister Owen Arthur as Minister of Finance and Mr Christopher Sinckler as [former] Minister of Finance because this country will use all resources to ensure there will be no surrender, no retreat, but also that there will be transformation,” she said.

Sinckler, represented the St Michael North West constituency for ten years before he was routed in May 2018 along with all his other party colleagues. (AC)
