The Ministry of Tourism will reward ten of Barbados’ frontline workers from the health services and police force for their hard work during this novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with a holiday of their choice.
Earlier today, Minister of Tourism Kerrie Symmonds announced the opportunity for two – a health care worker and a partner of choice – to either staycation in Barbados or visit a destination to which Barbados has commercial flight connections, for a period of seven days “to enjoy a period of downtime”.
Symmonds said during a Zoom press conference: “We want Barbadian people to indicate their experiences with some of these frontline workers and from that grouping of experiences submitted to us, we would then want to draw those which are the most moving and to signal our appreciation to those people who have gone beyond the call of duty in order to preserve the livelihoods of so many Barbadians . . . .”
The initiative labelled “We Care” runs from May 1 to 22 and winners will be announced by June 20. (GC)
