People who want to make donations to the Adopt A Family Programme have been reminded that an official account was created at CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank.

Additionally, a media statement advised the public that no one has been authorised to go door to door collecting money for the programme, which was implemented by Government to assist vulnerable families during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Alies Jordan, issued this reminder today, following reports from St George residnts that people had visited their homes, purporting to be affiliated with Government, and are assigned to collect funds for the programme.

Jordan said this “is absolutely not true. Government does not do business in such a manner, where there is no accountability”.

“It is regrettable that in these difficult times that persons are trying to defraud each other, and shame on those persons for attempting to do so,” she said.

Jordan reminded the public that an account has been set up at CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, Broad Street, account number 1001193982 for anyone wanting to make a donation. An email can then be sent to adoptafamily@pmo.gov.bb, advising of the deposit.

The Permanent Secretary expressed thanks to citizens and companies who have supported the programme. (PR/KG)
