Weir’s BADMC vision

Minister of Agriculture Indar Weir wants to chart a new direction for the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC).

While announcing a halt to the sale of imported chicken wings and turkey wings at the Government agency last week to make way for clearance of the glut of locally-produced poultry, the minister also referred to his vision of “a slightly different role” for the BADMC.

“I know that the BADMC is responsible for agricultural development and marketing and that is the reason why we anchored the feed programme there to train new farmers,” said Weir during a press conference at his Graeme Hall, Christ Church office. He said his ministry had already set a target to train an additional 2 000 farmers, using technology and new methods in farming. (GC)
