Calston Mapp was laid to rest in a private funeral this evening at St George Parish Church.

The popular ice cream salesman, who was well known as Mappy across Barbados, passed away on May 19 due to complications related to a brain tumour. He was 67 years old.

A post on social media expressed “heartfelt gratitude for his 49 years of dedicated service” to the company.

The procession left the BICO plant on the Harbour Road, St Michael, and Mapp was escorted by ice cream trucks blasting the familiar ice cream song.

They stopped at his London Bourne Towers, Bay Street, The City, home before passing through some of Mapp’s popular routes, ending at St George Parish Church.  (RA)
