Ease for worshippers

From June 5, Government changed several of its coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions on churches, including allowing communion, one of the central rituals of Christians.

In addition, masks can be shed when people are reading, singing or preaching, as long as there is a 12-foot distance between the minister and the worshippers, and the elderly can attend regular service.

Several changes were made following rumblings this week by leaders of churches and faith-based organisations about the measures that went into effect on June 1.

Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations Colin Jordan made it clear there were some issues that were subject to further discussion with health authorities.  (RA)
