It did not take long for Barbadian jockey Rocco Bowen to make a triumphant return to the winner’s enclosure, as he won astride Hyndford at Belterra Park in Cincinnati, United States, on Friday.
After being sidelined by injury for the past 20 months, Bowen made all the running with the five-year-old gelding Hyndford in the opening race, winning by a neck.
The pair went off as favourites and covered the one-mile trip in 1:40.86 minutes to just deny a fast-finishing Valycove.
The previous day at the same venue, in his comeback ride, Bowen went close with another Genaro Garcia-trained horse Dingdingdingding. After contesting the early fractions, Dingdingdingding could not get by 19-1 longshot Meetme At d’Street. (LY)
