The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) has given the okay toGovernment’s Barbados Optional Savings Scheme (BOSS) programme.

The union’s members gave BOSS the thumbs up at a special meeting on Wednesday evening.

“The NUPW executive met at 6 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) via Zoom to discuss the Government’s BOSS proposal. Approximately 500 members participated in the meeting, and the overwhelming majority of members present supported the plan that was presented to us by the Government,” president Akanni McDowall told the Weekend Nation.

“It is noteworthy that all members were invited to the general meeting. The union’s constitution speaks to having a quorum of 50 members to make a decision that is representative of the general body, so the meeting was constitutionally called, and the decision was constitutionally made,” he added.
