THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS has shifted its policy for arriving passengers to self-quarantine in some cases, but this has brought swift reaction from the public.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Anton Best, while directing the Daily Nation on June 14 to Minister of Health Jeffrey Bostic for the reason behind the policy change, said the arriving passengers were being tested and that greatly reduced the risk that they had novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The ministry is allowing home quarantine for passengers from countries considered low-risk for COVID-19 cases.

The policy went into effect from Saturday with 15 passengers on Caribbean Airlines, mainly students from the Mona, Jamaica and St Augustine, Trinidad campuses of the University of the West Indies. (AC)
