Diplomats coming to Barbados will not be exempt from COVID-19 testing.
Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic made that clear yesterday, saying an agreement had been reached with multilateral partners on diplomatic immunity as it related to adherence to contingent protocols for commercial travel.
During a webinar on the reopening of borders hosted by the Pan-American Health Organisation (PAHO), Bostic said this was one of the teething problems discovered as the country reopened to commercial flights last Sunday.
“Another issue that we have encountered, and we had one major concern to date, is the issue of diplomats. How do we treat to diplomats, especially diplomats who do not want to play ball and who want to cite diplomatic immunity but did not come with a valid test? (CLM)
