Some family members as well as fellow fisherfolk said yesterday that Ronald “Smokey” Skeete was a kind man who did not deserve a violent death.

The popular 56-year-old fish vendor, who worked at the Millie Ifill Fish Market in Weston, St James, for decades, was killed Saturday near midnight following an apparent stabbing incident involving a young woman.

Officers from District “D” Police Station in St Thomas received a report around 11:55 p.m. about a dispute at Skeete’s home in Whopping, Orange Hill, St James.

On arrival, they met ambulance personnel who were treating a female who had injuries to the head and right arm, which were not life-threatening. (CA)
