The home of 83 year-old James Cumberbatch was gutted on Wednesday morning when a fire broke out at the rear of the building.

Six people were occupying the two-bedroom timber house at Jackson, St Michael, at the time, and while there were a few minor injuries, no one was seriously hurt.

A neighbouring timber house was extensively damaged.

An emergency call was made around 3:56 a.m. and the fire fighters arrived at 4:05 a.m. Ten fire officers responded to the blaze in two tenders; one from the Arch Hall fire station and the other from the Bridgetown.  (SB)
