The Barbados Meteorological Services is monitoring an area of low pressure centred near 10.5N 35W at 3 p.m., today. This feature is associated with a tropical wave 2 685 miles or 1 668 kilometres to the east of Barbados.
The system is forecast to track westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph (15 to 25 km/h) over the next few days, the Met Office said in a bulletin.
Conditions are somewhat favourable for some slow development of this system over the next 48 hours. After which, dry air entrainment is currently forecast to impede any additional development and may lead to weakening before the system reaches Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
The system is forecast to reach the area as an open wave (Tropical wave) between Friday and Saturday. Â
The public is advised to monitor updates from the Barbados Meteorological Services over the next few days.
The next update will be at noon on Tuesday, August 11, or sooner if conditions warrant. (PR)
