Anya Nicholls was weeks away from a starting a new academic journey at the University of the West Indies.
However, on Friday around 4 p.m. on a road trip with friends and family, her life was cut short in a vehicular accident along Mount Gay, St Lucy.
Police said the 18-year-old, who recently graduated from Combermere School was a passenger in the vehicle which was travelling easterly when it overturned throwing her onto the roadway.

The teen died on the spot. Her death is the seventh road fatality for the year.
As news of the tragedy spread, many people, especially Combermerians, posted their condolences on social media.
When a Nation team visited her Pine Plantation Road, St Michael home yesterday, a close family friend reported that her father Philip Nicholls preferred not to comment.
However, a friend of both sisters said the situation was sad, since they had bright futures.
The friend said Anya was to pursue an economics degree and they planned to enjoy their last weeks of freedom by holding sleepovers, beach limes and the road trip.
“She was a nice girl, very easy-going and very mannerly. . . . It’s still fresh, so you have to give it some time to really hit home.” (TG)
