Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw today said discussions about the future of the Common Entrance Examination are ongoing, despite disruption as a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
She noted that there have been meetings with the Education Reform Committee, to discuss not only the 11-Plus Examination, but education reform in general.
Bradshaw said consultations are ongoing with stakeholders – parents, teachers, unions to chart the best path forward, noting that the focus is on a blended approach to learning.
The minister said the ministry can only set the framework, but the teaching and learning environment has to be conducive for those who operate within it.
Bradshaw pointed out that Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Senator Dr Romel Springer has been playing a big role in the transformation of the education system.
The minister was speaking at the Ministry of Education’s headquarters, Constitution Road, Bridgetown, St Michael, where she was delivering the details of this year’s Common Entrance Examination. (KG)
