Houses and businesses in parts of St Peter were damaged by flooding earlier today.

Residents quickly shared videos to social media showing brown floodwater rushing angrily through Speightstown and other sections of the parish after the downpour.

Member of Parliament Colin Jordan and Dave Hurley, a representative of the St Peter District Emergency Organisation, toured some of the affected areas.

Jordan said efforts were afoot to assist those whose properties had sustained damage. He said at least one person was rescued and the Barbados Fire Service would be lending assistance.

Barbados Meteorological Services earlier today issued a flash-flood warning and severe thunderstorm warning, which were later discontinued. (KG)
