Concerned parents of the Frederick Smith Secondary School are set to stage a peaceful demonstration in front of the school on Friday as they seek to sway the Ministry of Education to defer the transfer of principal Major Michael Boyce for at least two years.
Last Friday, the group met in front of the Trents, St James school to protest the transfer. Boyce had announced during an online meeting with students, parents and guardians the previous night that he would be moving on to another school on Monday.Â
Boyce took up his new role at Deighton Griffith Secondary, while former principal at Daryll Jordan Secondary, Steven Jackman, now heads Frederick Smith.
However, spokesman for the group, Dr Anthony Cummins, and others said it would be a travesty if Boyce was moved, and the group has since appealed to Acting Chief Education Officer Joy Adamson to reconsider the move. (RA)
