The Superintendent of Prisons could soon be facing a civil suit as one of his warders, who had been charged with taking contraband into the prison, had her case dismissed by the District “C” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

It was in August 2019, that Cathy-Ann Elizabeth Blunte, a prison officer with 14-years’ experience, of Skeete’s Road, Jackman’s St Michael, was charged that without lawful authority, she took five bottles of tattoo ink – prohibited items – into HMP Dodds on August 22.

She was suspended on half pay following her court appearance.

Yesterday, when she reappeared in the District “C” St Matthias Magistrates’ Court, the prosecution served the defence team of Queen’s Counsel Michael Lashley and Kadisha Wickham with the disclosure, including photographs.

Lashley then submitted that those photographs were more prejudicial than probative. (HLE)
